The Presiding Officers lead and shape the entire program, meeting throughout the year to build their leadership skills and prepare for their responsibilities for guiding the work of all program participants. Officers make a serious commitment to YAG and to the groups they serve, but have tons of fun in the process.
Students are selected for leadership positions in YAG in a number of different ways. The Presiding Officers are elected by their peers in various manners. In some cases, this is by all students at the State Conference. In other cases, this is by students specifically within a program area. The elections for the Presiding Officers are held during the State Conference. All Presiding Officers will preside at the State Conference held the year following their elections.
Supporting Officers are appointed by the State Office through an application process. These officers fill many program roles, including judge and committee chair. Students wanting to serve as a Supporting Officer need to apply by the stated deadline.
