Below are some Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) about YAG 2020. We will update these as more questions are asked and answered.
Do all students from a school/delegation need to select the same State Conference?
Our preference is that a school/delegation stay with the same State Conference they normally participate in each year. However, we recognize that may not be possible for all students and so this is not a requirement. But, if a junior wishes to run for a Presiding Officer position for 2021, they need to attend the State Conference that their school/delegation normally attends.
Do all students from the same school/delegation need to select the same time track for a State Conference?
No, we are offering a daytime and after-school/evening track to best accommodate student schedules. Students are free to select which times work best for them. We will do our best to build a schedule to accommodate all students.
How do I apply to be a committee chair or judge this year?
Students will indicate if they are interested in serving in one of these roles when they register for YAG. After registration closes, the State Office will review overall numbers and how many supporting officers are needed. Leadership decisions will be made then and announced to students. All judges will serve only as judges this year.
What technology will be used for the virtual program?
We will be using Zoom. Each student participant will need to create a free account at www.zoom.us.
Will there still be a conference t-shirt? What about YAG merchandise?
Yes, all students will receive a conference t-shirt for participating. We will coordinate delivery of those with schools and Ys. We also plan to add an online YAG merchandise store this fall.
How do I pay my fee this year?
The program fee for 2020 is $50 per student. You need to make payment online and can also apply for scholarships if needed. More information is available at https://www.moyag.org/highschool/fees2020/.
What will the State Conference schedule be like this year?
Below is a basic structure for the conference schedule at this time. Our overall goal is to break it up enough that you are not spending too many hours each day on Zoom during the conferences. Also, we hope to provide flexibility to accommodate students who may need different times to participate. Again, this is subject to change as we receive registrations and know how many students are participating.
